International Civil Aviation Day

International Civil Aviation Day is celebrated on 7th December to generate worldwide awareness about the role of aviation and international air travel in the world's social and economic development. International Civil Aviation Day also acknowledges the unique role played by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in ensuring the cooperation, safety, and efficiency of global aviation.

International Civil Aviation Day was announced by the United Nations General Assembly on 7th December 1996, and it marks the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation. Find out more about the history and significance of this day here.

International Civil Aviation Day Theme

The ICAO Council establishes a special anniversary theme for International Civil Aviation Day every five years, coinciding with the ICAO anniversary- 2014/2019/2024/2029, etc. The council representative also selects a single theme for the four intervening years between the anniversary period.

The theme for the 75th Anniversary of Internation Civil Aviation Day held in 2019 was "75 Years of Connecting the World." The theme for World Civil Aviation Day 2020 was "Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development." The council has decided to keep this theme till 2023. History of Civil Aviation Day

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a specialized UN agency that looks after international aviation. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Chicago Convention, the ICAO celebrated International Civil Aviation Day for the first time on 7th December 1994. Since then, this day has been celebrated annually on a global level. Later, the UN General Assembly officially recognized 7th December as International Civil Aviation Day in 1996.

Civil Aviation Day is a day to reflect on the importance of global aviation networks and to honor the workforce engaged in the aviation industry. The UN is now focused on making the aviation industry more sustainable to meet the Agenda 2030 goals.

Significance of International Civil Aviation Day

  • World Civil Aviation Day reminds us of the importance of International Civil Aviation as a means of global connectivity.
  • The significance of international aviation has increased manifold now that the UN and world nations have adopted Agenda 2030 with a mission of global sustainable development. The organization looks at international flights as "a fundamental enabler of global peace and prosperity."
  • ICAO has been in existence for more than 75 years now. The network carries 12 million passengers a day in its 120,000 flights and over four billion passengers annually.
  • Further, the Global Air Transport sector generates USD 2.7 trillion in economic activity and supports 65.6 million jobs. It plays a vital role in maintaining smooth supply chains for unhindered trade and commerce between nations.

How is International Civil Aviation Day Celebrated?

International Civil Aviation Day is commemorated by holding various events, activities, press and media releases, aviation-themed lectures, and seminars. Governments, organizations, companies, and many individuals support ICAO in this endeavor.

The day is celebrated worldwide, though no public holiday is declared. Over the years, ICAO has successfully created the best standards and practices for aviation safety, security, inspection, regularity, environmental protection, and sustainable development. The world recognizes the same on International Civil Aviation Day.

SSC CHSL 2022 Notification: Introduction

SSC CHSL Recruitment Notification 2022 Out: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recently started the online registrations for prominent Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Nation-Wide Exam 2022-2023 today i.e. ssc.nic.in. 12th Passed have this golden opportunity to work with the central government as 4500 vacancies are announced by the commission.  Hence, you can apply for SSC CHSL 2022 on or before 04 January 2023.

SSC CHSL 2022 Application Fee

  •  The required application fee for SSC CHSL 2022 is Rs. 100/-

  • Exemption: No fee is required to be paid by female, SC, ST, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen candidates.
  • Applications fee should be paid only through SBI either in the form of challan or through SBI Net Banking or any other bank Credit/Debit Card. The Challan form will be generated online.
  • To pay a fee in cash, the candidate should take a printout of the challan generated online after the completion of Part-1 registration. Deposit the requisite fee in any branch of SBI and then continue with the Part-2 registration.
  • Those candidates who want to pay online can go directly to part-2 registration after completion of part-1 registration. Candidate must supply registration number and date of birth to continue to Part-2 registration.

World Bank upgrades India’s GDP growth forecast for 2022-23 to 6.9 percent

World Bank upgrades India's GDP growth to 6.9% for current fiscal

The World Bank has upgraded its growth forecast for Indian economy to 6.9 percent from its earlier estimate of 6.5 percent for the fiscal year 2022-23. Praising India's economic resilience despite a challenging external environment, the World Bank noted that India’s economy is relatively insulated from global spillovers compared to other emerging markets. The international financial institution said that despite external challenges, India is expected to remain one of the fastest growing major economies in the world, due to robust domestic demand.

  • The institution said that the government is expected to meet the fiscal deficit target of 6.4 per cent of the GDP in 2022-23.
